Working with Seniors
Some people say “She’s Five Foot Two and sings it too!” Laurie is personable, reliable and, very versatile when it comes to entertaining seniors for the past 15 years. Her repertoire represents nostalgic tunes from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s and into the present. She’s a little on the jazzy side with “Five Foot Two”, “Ain’t She Sweet” and “Sentimental Journey.” Dameron includes songs that are sometimes calming and reflective and sometimes fun and familiar and encourages all to sing along and also gets the audience to participate in trivia. Her energetic stage presence engages even the most sober audiences; frequently people get up and dance!
Keep Laurie in mind for concerts, sing-alongs, birthday parties and ice cream socials and especially summertime barbeques where she can work as a strolling minstrel.

Laurie does a theme for each month or season. In January she dresses Western and sings Western in honor of the Western Regional Stock Show. In February it’s romantic jazz and of course some Irish tunes for March. Her Spring and Summer shows are packed with fun trivia that engages the audience and gets their minds working. It’s always something new and fun!
Laurie Dameron has a unique special presence when she performs for the residents, and I mean for the residents, not to them or at them. She engages them, with her music, her song, her voice, her interaction with each of them. She plays the music they love and know, but encourages them to participate and truly shows that she loves what she does, and that she is able to make the residents smile. Laurie has an incredible way of lifting the spirits of residents who have physical, cognitive and emotional impairments and the staff who are present during her performances. She is a pleasure to work with and is very professional, she is a shining star! Thank you Laurie for everything you do and the joy you bring to the residents.

Laurie is full of energy; her guitar and music are extensions of her body; she is aware of her audience interests & accepts requests (old & new), she is able to put together the melodies just from humming a few bars; she plays/sings the favorites then exposes her audience to her original work; always interested in the response of those present & encourages participation; timely, organized, professional, inspires free thinking through musical philosophy.
